All you have to do is talk to a friend and in a short time, you will learn that they or someone they know has some knowledge about the art of Reiki. It may be that a friend of theirs is a Reiki practitioner or someone they know has been on the receiving end of a Reiki treatment. Keep in mind it could be your friend directly. The point we are trying to make here is that the art of reiki has become so widely excepted in our society that there are countless ways that it could encounter your life. So, what is Reiki, and why are Reiki healers so special? This is a great question and we intend to answer it for you right now.
Reiki is an ancient healing system that has been brought over from Japan. As a form of alternative medicine, it is not a replacement for a medical doctor but, many of the world’s doctors see no problem with using it in addition to their advice.
Reiki is a healing system that deals with energy and what is often called the laying on of hand, even though a Reiki practitioner or Reiki Master doesn’t have to touch you in any way. In its purest form, Reiki is an exchange of energy and as such, it can be done from person to person with just the hands of the Reiki healer a few inches above a person’s body or it can be done as a distant form of energy healing too.
Many Reiki healers love to have the exchange with a person in the same room but it is not necessary. The reason for this is energy doesn’t know limits or boundaries, so it is free to travel from a Reiki practitioner to someone who needs healing energy in the same town or another city far away. Reiki healing is based on energy and intent.
It is said that the person getting the energy doesn’t even have to believe in Reiki for the energy to work for them. Now, before you dismiss this theory as hogwash, think about this, everyday people step on an airplane and fly from point A to point B and they have no idea how an airplane flys. The plane still works, doesn’t it? So, why should healing and energy be any different?
Reiki has levels numbered one, two, and three. The first level can be passed on when someone gets their first reiki treatment or shortly after. That passing on is called an attunement. The second level of Reiki is often given to someone who feels a desire to learn more and they are often called a Reiki Practitioner. The third level is called the master level and this person is known as a Reiki Master. The way the system basically works is that a level one can give an energy exchange but to get to levels two and three, a Reiki Master must give or should give those attunements. This is called traditional Reiki. The idea is that knowledge is passed on with these levels and as such, it should be taught in some form.
